1:1 Coaching for academics
Do you spend more time thinking about how you should be writing than actually writing?
Productivity techniques can help for a few days, but they often don’t address the heart of the difficulty. Coaching offers a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what gets in the way of your writing and find practical ways forward.
I combine reflective conversation with planning, accountability, and small experiments between sessions.
Who this coaching is for
Coaching might be a good fit if you:
are confident in what you have to say, but struggle to protect writing time alongside administrative, teaching or student demands
carve out time to write, then find yourself avoiding the project or procrastinating with other tasks
sit down to write and feel overwhelmed by anxiety, uncertainty, or self-criticism
feel caught in cycles of reading, researching, rewriting, restructuring, or rethinking without making tangible progress
are returning to a project after rejection, interruption, illness, leave, burnout, or a long period away
“Faith helped me get back to writing a project I believe in.”
“After our 12 sessions, I have multiple presses pursuing my book, positive peer reviews, and a manageable timeline to complete the full manuscript.”
Julie Gerdes, Assistant Professor of Technical Communication and Rhetoric, Virginia Tech

I take on a small number of one-to-one coaching clients for each 12-week programme. If you are interested in working together, please get in touch to arrange an initial conversation.
We can use this time to discuss your project, what feels difficult at the moment, and whether this kind of coaching is the right fit.
